New York State Department Of Health Aids Institute
Every year all New York public and charter schools must administer New York State Assessment Exams in English Language Arts, Math and other subjects depending on the school grade. Mayor Bloomberg and Joel I. Klein, Chancellor of the New York Department of Education, set high performance standards for New York public schools when comes to the preparation for these exams.
The two main tests that students have to pass each year to meet the promotion criteria are the ELA test (English Language Arts) and Math test. ELA test is designed to test students’ reading, listening and writing skills. The goal of the Math assessment is to assess students’ knowledge on various math topics relevant to their respective grade levels.
